Christmas 2009 Project
The "Friends in Action" group launched in November, the Christmas 2009 project designed to assist two institutions based in Taboao da Serra, São Paulo:
At the end of the year our goal is to buy mattresses for every child. There are 130 children (from babies up to adolescents) and the best price that we have found so far for each mattress is R$ 90.00. That is why we need your help. It is sad to see the precarious conditions that the children face to sleep. A good mattress and pillow have been the number one need at the moment, and if we get more donations than needed, we will provide the school supplies (backpack, Binder and tennis) for 2010 school year.
Neste final de ano nossa meta é conseguir colchões para todos. São cerca de 130 crianças (desde bebês até adolescentes) e o melhor preço que conseguimos até agora nos colchões foi de R$ 90,00. Por isso precisamos de reforços. Realmente é triste ver as condições precárias que eles enfrentam para dormir. Colchão e travesseiro tem sido realmente a maior necessidade no momento, e se conseguirmos mais doações providenciaremos o material escolar (mochila, fichário e tênis) para o proximo ano escolar.

Our initial goal was 120 mattresses which was pretty difficult, but we decided we would go forward and everything that happened were God's blessings.
Our thermometer today overflows and like it, also our hearts!
Saturday, December 12th, was a day marked on our lives, a day we will never forget. By the gestures, looks and words from the little ones.
We had a moment of thanks to all who work for them, dance group presentation with a beautiful Christian message and the long-awaited distribution of mattresses.
Each child could take your pillow and make their own bed. A small gesture, but an important one because they share almost everything, and their beds are still the only thing that is unique and exclusive to them.
This day of celebration gave them much more than comfort, but a feeling of warmth and security.
This day of celebration provided us with more than a feeling of benevolence, but the joy to have won a little more of their trust.
The work now continues. In addition to the mattresses and pillows, we got donations for new linen and sheets for all beds.
With the thermometer overflowed we will begin repairing the bathrooms and also assist them with school supplies for the beginning of the school year.

Estamos nos últimos dias da nossa Campanha de Natal com um enorme desafio a superar!
Com um objetivo diferente do que a grande maioria imagina nossos esforços estão voltados para o conforto das crianças da Instituição Asas Brancas que abriga um orfanato e uma Casa Transitória.
Confiantes no resultado positivo estabelecemos como meta a difícil tarefa de substituir os colchões dos pequeninos, já que não se encontram em condições adequadas, mesmo para quem não tem um lar.
